Biography

I was born in Belgium, lived in the Southern and Northern part of this beautiful country before moving to Germany and the Netherlands. I have been living in the US since 1988.

Fine art and antiques have been my consuming interests since my childhood in Belgium, home to old masters as well as more modern artists such as James Ensor, Delvaux and Rene Magritte.

Art has been in my blood from the beginning, although I followed the traditional path of becoming an engineer and corporate executive.

After 25 years working for one of Belgium's largest and most renowned companies, I decided to devote full time to my driving interests in painting and antique collection.

While corporate life was not of particular interest, it did allow for a life of travel and exposure to other cultures, both in Europe and the United States. I understand the German expressionist movement better from having lived in Munich for four years. And, my appreciation of the Dutch masters was honed while living in Amsterdam for five years. It is all grist for the mill when exploring painting subjects and styles. I am starting to appreciate the American masters having made the United States my home for over 20 years." Even though I studied watercolor under established artists in Europe and the U.S. I consider myself a self taught  artist as far as oil painting is concerned - which I started in earnest around 2008.
